Please draft a response to another students discussion board. Here is the original instructions for this students post:

  1. Which of the four philosophical worldviews/frameworks listed above most closely aligns with your perspective and the way that you view problems in the world? How does your research worldview/framework compare with worldview/frameworks that align with qualitative methodology?
  2. How does understanding the connection between philosophical worldviews/frameworks and qualitative research methodology assist in your approach to conducting research? What do you need to consider?
  3. Compare/contrast philosophical worldview with that of a Christian worldview. Are there any areas that are problematic or do most philosophical worldviews/frameworks appear to be congruent with a Christian worldview?
  4. How does Keller’s perspective on being frustrated in your work (p. 94) relate to frustration in conducting research?

Here is the students original post that you are replying to:

Which Philosophical Worldview Aligns with Your Perspective and View of World Problems?

The Critical Theory aligns with my perspective and view of world problems because the design of research falls into two broad categories. The first category is methodological and is related to the way people read and write, while the substantive, the second category, is related to the topics and theories of the research. This approach requires the researcher to think logically and explore all aspects of the subject including past research recorded in the literature review (Creswell & Poth, 2018)

How does Your Research Worldview/Framework compare with Worldview Framework that Align with Qualitative Methodology?

Qualitative methodology is defined by Creswell as observing an activity in the actual world setting, interpreting the data, and providing meaning. The two broad categories of methodological and substantive in the Critical Theory of philosophical worldview provides a research system consistent with qualitative methodology. Research should provide a meaningful report to enhance the reader’s knowledge of the subject (Creswell & Poth, 2018).

How does Understanding the Philosophical Worldviews/Framework and Qualitative Research Methodology Connection Assist in Conducting Research Approach?

The philosophical worldview is the foundation of interpreting the data obtained in a qualitative research study. The researcher has a set of beliefs or standards that will be used as a guide while gathering and interpreting data. A Christian researcher will be required to bridge the gap between intellectual and spiritual activities during the qualitative research project (Whitney, 2017)

What do You Need to Consider?

Good research and detailed data collection are key to a successful qualitative research project (Mir, 2018). The philosophical worldview of a researcher may change based on the topic of the research and the population that will be tested. A research strategy must be developed to properly address the issues related to the stated problem studied in the research.

Compare/Contrast Philosophical Worldview and Christian Worldview

The Critical Theory philosophical worldview empowers humans with the ability to conduct qualitative research regardless of the constraints related to race, class, or gender (Creswell & Poth, 2018). The concept of human empowerment manifests the human into a divine being and worshiping self-knowledge. The impact of the culture will influence the researcher’s views and ethical standards concerning the research subject manner (Rymarz & Cleary, 2017). A Christian worldview will place Jesus as the authoritative source of knowledge and the provider of wisdom to conduct research.

Are areas in Conflict or Agreement between Philosophical Worldview and Christian Worldview?

The academic requirement to cite peer reviewed journal articles for assignments designates the literature as authoritative. From a Christian worldview, wisdom is a gift from God and is gained by studying Scripture and prayer. A Christian should view the Bible as the primary authoritative source. Secondary sources should be Christian authors who are experts in the field of study.

How does Keller Page 94 Perspective of Being Frustrated in Your Work Relate to Frustration in Conducting Research?

In Keller’s book, a section entitled The Meaningless of Work, a key Scripture reference is Ecclesiastes 2:17: “So I hated life, because the work that is done under the sun was grievous to me all of it is meaningless, chasing after the wind” (New International Version, 2011). Keller and Alsdorf (2012) states that work should have a purpose and provide a reward. King Solomon, as the wealthiest and wisest person in the world at that time, had world leaders seeking a teaching session with him. One of his failures was his pursuit of pleasure; he assembled a harem of almost 1000 women. The women led him estray and the Bible says he did not seek the Lord with his whole heart as his father David had. King Solomon’s pursuit of wealth, wisdom, and pleasure offers a correlation to the process of conducting research. The researcher’s desire to gain wisdom, wealth, and pleasure will result in a career advancement after earning the Doctor of Business Administration degree. King Solomon’s wisdom is imprinted in the Holy Bible and referenced as important teaching to build a Christian worldview of higher learning. The research papers written by students during the 2020 summer term at Liberty University Busi-815 will not be part of the Bible and likely not be published. Most of the research will be read only by the class’s Professor and soon forgotten. The student’s gain will be to pass the class with hopefully an A and move on to the next class in the curriculum. If the degree program results in a career advancement to enable the Christian businessperson to expand their influence for Jesus Christ, then the class and research is of eternal value.
