Greetings from the CCBC Testing Center!
It is noted in CCBC’s student information system that you are a student that needs to complete their first attempt at math placement with CCBC’s math assessment test, ALEKS. The purpose of this communication is to provide you with access and directions to complete the 1st attempt.
ALEKS Math Assessment
The ALEKS Math Assessment ensures students’ readiness for certain math and science- based courses at CCBC. Since these courses are demanding, it is important for you to start with a firm foundation in your understanding.
- What you need
- Uninterrupted work time (plan for two hours)
- A pencil and paper
- A reliable Internet Connection

Before you take the assessment, ALEKS will present a short tutorial on how to enter answers, how to use the graphing utilities, and how to use the built-in calculator. TAKE YOUR TIME WITH THIS TUTORIAL.
- The ALEKS assessment has up to 30 questions depending on your progress.
- Plan to complete the assessment in a single one- to two-hour sitting. However, you can stop and restart but you will have 24 hours to complete the assessment once you start. Once started, if you do not finish within 24 hours, the assessment is reset.
- Complete this assigned ALEKS attempt within 7 days of receipt of this email.

- Honest Work Matters
There is no benefit to inflating or deflating your abilities on the ALEKS math assessment.
The ONLY way your ALEKS score is used is to help to determine courses that match your incoming knowledge level.
Incorrect placement can negatively affect your GPA. Dishonest work on this assessment causes many problems, including placement into a course that is not appropriate for your current level of knowledge.
Academic Integrity: Academic integrity is a core institutional value at CCBC. Students, faculty, administrators and staff have the right to expect a learning environment where academic integrity is valued and respected. Students are responsible for demonstrating academic integrity and shall not engage in or condone acts of academic dishonesty. To protect that right, it is essential that CCBC address academic integrity issues when an incident is first identified. (Student Code of Conduct)
CCBC reserves the right to require a final proctored attempt of ALEKS.
What happens when I finish my ALEKS assessment?
The Testing Center will be alerted of your completed and assigned ALEKs attempt. Testing Center staff will notify your assigned advisor that you have completed the assessment tool. Your academic advisor will contact you to review your score and discuss course selection.
