if there is a relationship between the number of years (or semesters) that someone has taken P.E. and if having more experience in P.E. will prepare someone to become a P.E. teacher? For the latter, you can use rating of 0-10 where 0 could mean that it is not necessary to have more experience to become a P.E. teacher whereas a 10 does.
The independent variable should be the number of years (or semesters) that someone has taken P.E. For your dependent variable, it should be the likelihood (i.e. a rating system you would make) that the more experience someone has in P.E., the more likely they are prepared to become a P.E. teacher.
