Critical Thinking Assignment (75 Points)

Important! Read First

Choose one of the following two assignments to complete this week. Donot do both assignments. Identify your assignment choice in the titleof your submission.

Option #1: Determination of Critical Path of the Project

Use the following table to calculate duration (round to 0 decimal places)

Use Activity on Node to construct a network activity diagram with the preceding table.

Use the forward and backward pass method to calculate projectduration, based on the assumption that the expected duration of eachactivity can be calculated using the following formula: ExpectedDuration = (Pessimistic Duration + 4 x Most Likely Duration + OptimisticDuration)/6. Include slack on the arrows and identify the critical path(s) and burst and merge activities.

Evaluate the finished project and write a review of your analysis andhow you completed each step. Include the completed table and your AONdiagram in your paper

Your response should be integrated in a well-written paper that meets the following requirements:

• Be 2-3 pages in length plus graphical elements, placing these graphical elements in an appendix,
• Be formatted according to the CSU-Global Guide to APA and Writing Requirements (Links to an external site.), and
• Include two scholarly sources from the CSU-Global Library (Links to an external site.).

Option #2: The PERT Method

Using past course texts, current suggested readings, and otherscholarly resources, write an overview of PERT analysis and calculatethe critical path based on a recent project that you have participatedin.

The review of the PERT analysis should include the following:

Define PERT and why it is used.
Differentiate between activity on Node and Activity on Arrow.
Define the forward and backward pass method for calculating critical path.
Define burst, merge, and slack.

The PERT analysis of your project should include your appendices witha WBS, and network diagram with forward and backward pass calculatedaccording to the following specifications:

An initial WBS of your project that has no less than 4-5 Major tasks,
Each major task should have several subtasks,
Calculate the critical path, and
Identify any tasks that have slack.
(Include slack on the arrows and identify the critical path(s) and burst and merge activities.)

Lastly, conclude with a summary of importance of PERT and Critical Path analysis in project management.

Your paper should meet the following requirements:

• Be 3 pages (minimum) in length,
• Be formatted according to the CSU-Global Guide to APA and Writing Requirements (Links to an external site.), and
• Include two scholarly sources from the CSU-Global Library (Links to an external site.).”Current” means published in the most recent 5 year period. “Scholarly”means peer-reviewed journal articles, and may also include the textbookand PMBOK Guide.
