This week we read in-depth about the NCVS and the UCR and thevictimization data that they provide. This information is important to Victimologistsduring the course of their studies of victimology. Looking at the graphspresented in chapter 4 of Andrew Karmen’s “Crime Victims: An Introduction toVictimology” you notice that all of the NCVS and UCR data show thatvictimizations have been decreasing since the 1990s. Identify anddiscuss two reasons you feel could be possible for the decrease in crime andvictimization.

Review the case of Jeffrey Dahmer, on pages 156-157 of Eric W.Hickey’s “Serial Murderers and theirVictims” and write a 400-word essay discussing the case study.

Your essay should have an introduction summarizing the criminaland case, a body that discusses the issues surrounding the case (how were theyable to avoid being caught for so long – personality of the offender, lack ofevidence available, lack of technology, etc.), and what led to their arrest andprosecution, and a conclusion that discusses the outcome of their prosecutionalong with what changes could have been made along the way which might have ledto an earlier arrest.

Use EBSCO Host or Google Scholar to find the case legislature orcourt documentation that discusses the prosecution outcome. Be sure to includethis reference on your reference page.
