Four process strategies: 1) Process Focus: A production facility organized around process to facilitate low volume, high variety production”. Low volume , high variety products in places called “ Job Shops”. Facilities are organized around specific activities or processes General purpose equipment and skilled personnel High degree of product flexibility Typically high costs and low equipment utilization Product flows may vary considerably making planning and scheduling a challenge. 2) Repetitive Focus: It is a product-oriented process that uses modules (parts of components previously prepared in a continuous process. Facilities often organized as assembly lines, Characterized by modules with parts and assemblies made previously, Modules may be combined for many output options, Less flexibility than process-focused facilities but more efficient. 4) Mass Customization Focus: Mass customization is the process of delivering wide-market goods and services which are modified to satisfy a specific customer’s need. Mass customization is a marketing and manufacturing technique which combines the flexibility and personalization of custom-made products with the low unit costs associated with mass production. Other names for mass customization include made-to-order or built-to-order. Example I picked is Cosmetic Customization, For instance, the benefits and attributes of a product are advertized in a different manner, it is displayed in a different way, promotional programs are communicated and designed differently, and the product mostly carries the client’s name.
