For your thesis, you should make three points. You might say that three
actions by the school forced Zitkala-Sa to lose her spirit while she was at
the school; they were forcing her to wear “white” clothes, forcing her to
have her long hair cut, and keeping her away from her family, especially her
mother, who gave her comfort.

The first thing that helped lead to Zitkala-Sa’s loss of spirit was the school
forcing her to take away her Native American clothing. Write about this in
the paragraph and choose a direct quote to include.
3rd paragraph: you would say.
The second thing that led to Zitkala-Sa’s loss of spirit was the school forcing
her to have her hair cut. Write about this and include a quote about her
hair being cut.
4th paragraph: you would say.
The third thing that led to Zitkala-Sa’s loss of spirit was the fact she had lost
her family and could not turn to her mother for comfort. She was all alone
in the school. Find a quote you could use that talks about her not being
able to turn to her mother for support.
5th paragraph: you would discuss everything you have covered and repeat
all three things that led to Zitkala-Sa’s loss of spirit.
